Over eight decades ago four PSG brothers in the true spirit of the values held by their father Govndaswamy Naidu adopted charity as their fifth brother and thus started a radically different approach to charity with no parallel anywhere in the world. PSG Charities Trust is one of the oldest charitable organization and the only one exclusively devoted to empowerment and social change through technical education in India. The Trust started in 1926 has worked towards building a classless society based on ideals of Gandhianism and in the process educated over 300,000 students mostly from economically weaker sections of the society. The Trust today has 23 institutions in which more than 20000 students are admitted annual from kindergarten to doctoral education teaching, all the possible subjects of academic pursuit in humanities and technical education. The Trust coveted by who’s who of the Indian nationalist movement including the Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Rajendra Prasad, Dr Annie Besant, Rabindranath Tagore, Rajaji, Kamaraj, Sir C V Raman, Indira Gandhi among others is an icon of high quality education in the country with an alumni population spread all over the world. As India moves firmly into the global stage with the worlds largest youth population within its confines, PSG’s ideal of creating high capacity matched with stellar quality would find greater resonance with all those who serve for the common good of the society.
