• PSG IM celebrates the ‘Joy of Giving’ week
PSG IM actively participated in the “Joy of Giving” week, a week long pan-India event conducted to promote the concept of giving. As part of this event, PSG IM associated with Goonj, a not for profit organization that collects new and used clothes and channelizes them to the villages where there is a need for clothing. PSG IM was the official collection center at the city of Coimbatore. The institute collected clothes, toys, food materials and old newspapers for the initiatives of Goonj. The students, faculty and staff of the institute participated in ‘Joy of Giving’ week in manifold ways. While some students stopped using private transport and channelized the thus saved money towards noble causes, others contributed to the ‘Handful of Rice’ initiative. Members of the faculty and staff, along with the students, also participated in an organ donation campaign by signing up to donate their organs to Tamilnadu government, through a scheme promoted by MIOT Hospitals, Chennai. Students also undertook campus cleanliness drives and ‘Card for a Cause’ initiative. In ‘Card for a Cause’ initiative, intricate and designer greeting cards are made by students and the revenues from this initiative were donated to noble causes. In addition to the activities during ‘Joy of Giving,’ the students of the institute also offer continuous academic assistance to school going students, and offer emotional support to elderly citizens by visiting them.
